HiP-HOPS (Hierarchically Performed Hazard Origin and Propagation Studies)

It is a safety analysis tool developed at the University of Hull. It has three main phases:

  • System modelling and failure annotation, which is still a manual task. It can be achieved by using, for example, Matlab Simulink.

  • Fault tree automatic generation using the failure information inserted manually.

  • Fault tree analysis, which determines the cut sets of failures automatically and generation of a FMEA table containing the direct relationship between component failures and system failures.

With HiP-HOPS is also possible to perform design optimization.
